Some reasons why endometrial cancer deaths are climbing, while ovarian cancer deaths are falling

Rising rates of obesity and physical inactivity have a much greater impact on increasing the risk for endometrial cancer than for ovarian cancer. Meanwhile, major advances in treatment have improved the survival of women with ovarian cancer. while uterine cancer survival has remained stagnant for 40 years.

Another reason is much less research in endometrial cancer. National Cancer Institute funding for uterine cancer in 2018 was one seventh that for ovarian cancer, despite profound racial disparities in endometrial cancer and roughly the same number of women dying of endometrial cancer or ovarian cancer.
